Amplify, 2023, ongoing
A body of work about connection and disconnection, at three levels: with myself, with others, and with the environment. Awareness, communication, transformation. It is the embodiment of thirty years of research.
Each video is an essay. The body of work is the work.
Each video is ninety seconds. A single frame, filmed on a handheld phone without a tripod, held on the breath. Afterwards I draw over the image. The image moves, held as steady as the breath allows. The drawing does not. What moves is the hand, inevitably.

Sashiko is a traditional type of Japanese embroidery and stitch used to decorate or reinforce fabric making it more resilient. The artist who spent long periods in Japan reproduces here two types of Sashiko stitch with paint.
